I was born in El Paso, TX and lived the first part of my life in Cd. Juarez, Chih., Mexico. When the cartel war broke out in 2008, I partnered with my sister to begin a community art project in the city, Juarez: Presente y Futuro, that focused on documenting the impact of violence on children and attempted to assuage the feeling of helplessness with which these children lived. I co-authored an article in the Johns Hopkins Press “Journal of the History of Childhood and Youth” about the cartel war and about Juarez: Presente y Futuro. In 2014, I received a Bachelor in Creative Media from New Mexico State University where I majored in Digital Filmmaking with an emphasis on producing and editing.
